Combat Boots and High Heels is a veteran-focused nonprofit built on a simple belief: no Service Member or Veteran should have to navigate life’s hardest moments alone.

Founded in 2015, Combat Boots and High Heels began with a commitment to creating meaningful connection among those who have served. Since then, our mission has grown to meet veterans where they are  providing emergency financial assistance, building trusted communities, creating opportunities for wellness and connection, strengthening mentorship, and advocating for the needs of Service Members and Veterans.

We understand that support is not one-size-fits-all. Sometimes it means helping someone through an immediate financial crisis. Sometimes it means sitting across the table at dinner with people who understand. Sometimes it means creating a space where a veteran can reconnect with themself, build confidence, find mentorship, or simply know that she belongs.

Our work is intentionally personal. We believe trust comes before impact, relationships matter, and small organizations can make a powerful difference when they remain connected to the people they serve.

Connection & Belonging

​

Military service creates bonds that can be difficult to recreate after leaving uniform. We intentionally create opportunities for Service Members and Veterans to build authentic relationships, reconnect with community, and spend time with others who understand the experiences that come with serving.

Through retreats, dinners, wellness events, mentorship, and other gatherings, we create spaces where connection can happen naturally.

Emergency Assistance

​

Unexpected financial hardship can quickly become overwhelming. Combat Boots and High Heels provides direct emergency assistance to eligible veterans facing urgent needs.

​

Our goal is not simply to provide temporary relief. We approach assistance with dignity, compassion, and an understanding that timely support can help prevent a difficult situation from becoming a crisis.

Wellness & Resilience

​

Wellness extends far beyond physical fitness. We create accessible opportunities that support physical, emotional, social, and personal well-being.

Our wellness programming encourages veterans to reconnect with themselves, explore healthy tools and resources, build resilience, and develop relationships that continue beyond a single event.

Mentorship & Empowerment

​

Representation and connection matter.

Our Women Service Member and Veteran Mentorship community provides a dedicated space for women who have served to connect, ask questions, share experiences, mentor one another, and build relationships across generations, branches, ranks, and stages of military and civilian life.

​

We believe mentorship should empower people — not tell them who to become, but help them recognize the strength and experience they already possess.

​

Advocacy

Veterans deserve to have their experiences heard and their needs understood.

Combat Boots and High Heels works to elevate issues affecting service members and veterans, connect individuals with resources, strengthen community partnerships, and advocate for systems and communities that better recognize and respond to those who have served.

What We Do

Our programs are designed around several interconnected needs:

• Veteran retreats focused on connection, reflection, wellness, and community

• Dinner gatherings that bring small groups of veterans together in a relaxed, personal setting

• Wellness events that introduce practical approaches to physical, emotional, and social well-being

• Women Service Member and Veteran Mentorship, connecting women who served with a trusted peer community

• Advocacy and resource connection to help veterans navigate challenges and identify available support

• Community partnerships that expand what we can offer while strengthening the network surrounding veterans

Each program may look different, but they share one purpose: building stronger connections around those who served.

Why Connection Matters

Not every struggle is visible.

The transition from military service, financial stress, loss of identity, isolation, major life changes, and the everyday challenges of civilian life can affect veterans in very different ways.

We believe meaningful human connection can be a powerful protective factor.

That is why Combat Boots and High Heels focuses not only on responding when someone needs help, but also on creating relationships and communities that exist before a crisis occurs.

Sometimes the most important thing we can provide is financial assistance.

Sometimes it is a resource.

Sometimes it is an introduction.

And sometimes it is simply a place where someone walks into a room and immediately knows:

Our Approach

Personal

We are intentionally relationship-driven. The people we serve are not numbers, applications, or statistics.

Veteran-Centered

We listen first. Our programs continue to evolve based on the experiences and needs of the service members and veterans we serve.

Empowering

We believe support should preserve dignity, encourage independence, and recognize the tremendous capability that already exists within the veteran community.

Collaborative

No organization can meet every need. We actively build partnerships with veteran organizations, community leaders, businesses, healthcare professionals, wellness providers, and supporters who share our commitment to those who served.

Connected

Whether someone needs immediate assistance or simply wants to find her community again, connection is at the center of what we do.

Small but Mighty

For much of our history, Combat Boots and High Heels remained intentionally small and was powered largely by volunteers who balanced this mission alongside military service, careers, families, and their own responsibilities.

That never limited our commitment.

​

It taught us how to be resourceful, personal, responsive, and deeply connected to the people we serve.

​

Today, we are entering a new chapter.

​

With experienced leaders dedicating more time to the organization, expanding partnerships, and a growing community of supporters, Combat Boots and High Heels is positioned to serve more veterans while preserving what has always made our organization different:
